Chin Augmentation (Mentoplasty)

Balanced. Refined. Bring your face into a more harmonious balance with a chin augmentation or chin implant procedure.

Before
After

This patient had undergone 2 previous rhinoplasties before meeting with Dr. Lamperti. A revision septo-rhinoplasty was performed along with a chin implant placement. The patient’s dropping tip was improved along with her excessive columellar show. By increasing her tip projection Dr. Lamperti was actually able to improve the patient's tip definition. One can also see how the chin implant helps to balance the patient’s new tip projection. The after photos represent 8 month postoperative results.

Before

This patient came to Dr. Thomas Lamperti desiring an improvement in his jawline and chin projection. He had also noted that the vertical height of the lower third of his face was shorter than ideal. The patient’s teeth were already well aligned so a sliding genioplasty approach was used to both further project the patient’s chin while at the same time angling the jaw downward somewhat to lengthen his face. Concurrent neck liposuction was also performed to further enhance the results and provide a sharper neckline. The after photos represent 4 month postoperative results. The patient also underwent a septorhinoplasty to improve his profile line and nostril show.

Before

This patient came to Dr. Thomas Lamperti expressing interest in improving the size of her nose. She also had concerns regarding some looseness to the skin under her chin. During the preoperative consultation Dr. Lamperti noted that though the patient did have excess fullness to her nasal bridge, she also had a slightly under-developed chin. Beside performing a septorhinoplasty to correct her nose, Dr. Lamperti also placed a small chin implant. Besides improving the patient’s overall facial proportions, the implant also improved the patient’s neck definition, including the prejowl area just behind the chin. The postoperative photos were taken 3 months after surgery.

Before

This patient had concerns regarding chronic nasal congestion and the size of his severely deviated nose. A preoperative assessment revealed an under-projected chin which exacerbated the perceived size of the patient’s nose. While undergoing a septorhinoplasty to correct his nose, the patient also had a chin implant placed via a small incision (in the area of a pre-existing scar) under his chin. Six months postoperatively, the patient has a much improved overall balance to his face. Though his nose was made smaller, by improving the chin projection Dr. Thomas Lamperti was able to maintain a strong, masculine profile for the patient.

After
Before

This patient came to Dr. Thomas Lamperti wanting to improve his neck and jawline. During his consultation with Dr. Lamperti it was noted that the patient had an under projecting chin and poorly defined neckline. The patient is shown one month after having a necklift and liposuction along with the placement of a chin implant. Though the patient has an expected amount of neck tissue swelling, one can appreciate an improved jawline and neck.

Before

This patient wished to improve the prominence of her nose and decrease the bump on her bridge. Dr. Lamperti identified an underdeveloped chin and recommended a concurrent chin implant to help balance the patient’s facial feautures. The patient is shown before and 6 months after surgery. She can expect additional nasal tip swelling resolution over the next several months.

Chin Implantation Combined With Revision Rhinoplasty and Facial Fat Transfer

This male Bothell chin implant patient came to Dr. Lamperti looking to improve his nasal appearance and weak chin. To better balance the patient's facial proportions, Dr. Lamperti placed a silicone chin implant to project the patient's chin and better balance his tip projection.  You can see how the extended anatomic style implant also improved the patient's jaw line including the pre-jowl area. The effect is one of a facelift without facelift surgery. Dr. Lamperti also performed revision rhinoplasty surgery to improve the patient's nasal appearance. The patient also wanted to improve his cheek and lower eyelid hollowing so Dr. Lamperti also performed facial fat transfer at the same time.

Cleft Chin Removal Combined With Chin Bone Shaving

This Issaquah cleft chin removal patient came to Dr. Thomas Lamperti looking to reduce the severity of her deep cleft chin. The chin clefting was due to both the patient's chin muscles and the chin bone itself. Also, the cleft was so deep that Dr. Lamperti decided that additional soft tissue was needed to fill in the cleft. To address this problem Dr. Lamperti made an incision inside the mouth (between the lower lip and gum line) to gain access to both the chin muscles and bone. The bone was then sculpted with a small drill. Next, the chin muscles were released. Dr. Lamperti then harvested soft tissue (fascia and dermis) from behind the patient's right ear. This tissue was then grafted into the deepest portion of the chin cleft. The mobilized chin muscles were then brought toward the midline which further augmented the area of clefting. In the four-month post-operative photos you can see how the patient's chin cleft is now much less prominent and catches much less of a shadow. The end result is that we focus less attention onto the chin area. Also, the chin tapers in a more feminine, narrow fashion that better fits with the rest of the patient's facial features.

Combined Sliding Genioplasty with Functional Septorhinoplasty and Neck Liposuction and Platysmaplasty

This Seattle sliding genioplasty patient wanted to improve his overall facial proportions including getting a more refined jawline and less fullness under the chin. He also had significant snoring at night. Dr. Lamperti noted that the patient had a short chin vertical length along with being somewhat recessed. He also had some excess fat in the submental neck area that was amenable to removal. Dr. Lamperti noted that the patient would benefit from tightening of the neck muscles in the area as well. The patient is shown before and 1 year after having a sliding genioplasty procedure in which the patient's chin bone was brought both forward and downward. Submental liposuction was also done along with corset platysmaplasty in which the neck muscles were sutured together. You can note a much more masculine appearing and more harmonious overall facial proportions following this neck and chin repositioning. The patient did also have functional nose surgery to improve his chronic nasal congestion related to a deviated nasal septum and nasal pinching using septoplasty, spreader graft and lateral crural strut grafting techniques. The patient noted much improvement to his snoring following surgery as well.

Silicone Chin Implantation Combined With Septorhinoplasty and Mandibular Angle Filler Injection

This Seattle chin implantation patient wanted to create a stronger profile and jaw line. Dr. Lampeti noted a recessed chin bone and under-developed mandibular angles. Using an incision under the chin Dr. Lamperti placed a solid silicone implant (extended anatomic style). You can see how this improved the patient's chin projection and jawline in that area very well in the 6 month after photos. Additionally, Dr. Lamperti injected Radiesse skin filler into both mandibular angles to add further definition to the jaw in this area.
